Hi, this started about 1 month ago after a couple rough nights and a stressful summer where I went on a trip and had jet lag that turned into insomnia. It got better on vacation with taking meds that worked for several days and then the fear faded and I was fine. I got back home and was fine for a month and then a stressful week with upcoming school starting back and lots of other stresses it was back only this time the medication worked one night then stopped. I panicked and started having heat rush panic while falling asleep. Had my first sleepless night and thought I could die. Then went to doctor and got other sleep meds and referrals to sleep medicine but no appts until October. Honestly meds made me panic even more because I could feel the sedation but didn’t always sleep. I started watching podcasts and Learning about accepting and it’s like I know this but the fear is still there. Especially when I dont sleep the next night I’m putting so much pressure on myself. I don’t want to take meds but I eventually cave. I have 2 kids with busy schedules and after no night of sleep I feel so miserable, dizzy, stomach issues, chills, and I just cry all day. I try to live my day anyway but it’s hard. I keep saying eventually sleep drive wins but then read about people who go days and days with no sleep and eventually go to hospital and that is my fear. What can I do? I don’t watch the clock anymore but can almost know how many hours I’ve been tossing and turning. I try to stay calm and just feel the anxiety but my brain just stays awake. So miserable. Just signed up for the 2 week class.

I did much better after the two weeks with Martin Reed. I like you thought I was going to die. I thought I would have a stroke or heart attack. All this worrying is what was causing me not to sleep. I finally realized I would sleep. I have been sleeping good over the past year. I sleep 12 until 7 and if I have a night that is not so good I know the next night will be. I know I will eventually sleep. It didnt work for me to go into another room if I woke up. What worked for me is to just lay there and relax and enjoy relaxing.

I listened to the podcasts which helped a lot. I know I am not alone. There are a lot of us like this. I am so glad to not be on meds. I was on benadryl for a long time and it quit working. It also helped when Martin said if you wake up, it is most important to get those beginning hours in where you get that deep sleep. Just keep reading these post and listening to podcast and I bet you will be surprised how well you sleep.
