Hey guys! I'm brayan from san antonio, tx, originally born in the philippines, I'm 28 and have had sleeping problems since I was in my teens, now I haven't been officially diagnosed with insomnia but I figure I must have it when earlier this year, about february I had the worst series of no sleeping I ever had in my life. It took place over a period of about 4weeks, ok, so I'm trying to sleep like usual, but not surprisingly find I'm unable to, this is the first week, I was up for 8days, I finally was able to sleep just a few hrs, like 4 if even that, then was awake for another 8 days, did the same thing, slept for a few hrs, then the next week was awake for 7days, and did this once more, slept and awake for snother 7days, I felt like I was bout to go crazy, sometimes during the day I would doze off for like a minute, then wake up real quick and have these weird little day dreams that I couldn't distinguish from real life, like I thought the fbi was watching me, thought I did things at work that I didn't do, I dobt know, it hasn't happened that severely since then, but its not unusual for me to be awake for 2-3 days before I'm able to fall asleep, I actually came across this site coincidentally looking up tips on how to sleep better, relaxation techniques, ways to clear ur mind, anyhow, saw the link here, said it was a place that people with all various kinds of sleeping problems come together, share their stories, give advice and their experiences, so I thought it would be a fun place to come and join, so here I am, ready to look around in the site, ready to tell my experiences, haha from techniques that I've tried to pills that I've taken that work or don't work, what works best, all kinds of things, so I look forwars to hearing from people, good thing to know that I'm not alone in this, because when I'm up not able to sleep and it seems like the whole worlds sleeping but me, now I know where I can come to 🙂

Have you managed to figure out what triggered your sleeping problems? You seem to know roughly when your troubles with sleep began, so I wonder if you're able to trace back a potential cause?
What's your typical sleep routine like these days?

October 29, 2012 at 9:46 pm #14210Well, I work overnight for starters so I'm asleep during the day, when and if I sleep, and awake at night, I've been working on the overnight shift since I was about 17, since I always had trouble sleeping I just decided to work this shift. I dnt know if I can pinpoint specifically what causes my inability to sleep, but there's some things I do to help make it easier to get to sleep, like I'll limit the amount of energy supplements I drink or take, I'll make the house cold, or try to at least, cuz its so much easier for me to sleep when its freezing and I'm under the covers, lots of times I'll take a hot shower before going to sleep to help relax me, I used to run and workout a lot but this past year I've been so lazy and need to jump back on that wagon haha cuz it would wear me out and i'd fall asleep a whole lot easier than I do not exercising, but sometimes doing all these things don't work and I'm just stuck laying there like dork thinking I'll fall asleep, but I just end up getting frustrated haha, but again I think I need to practice not puttingpressue on myself trying to sleep, cuz I'll focus so much on getting to sleep and how many hours I'll be able to get in before having to get up for work, then I end up not sleeping, whereas on my off days I'm able to sleep so much easier knowing I don't have to sleep and get rested up for work….
October 29, 2012 at 11:35 pm #14211Hi Brayan, it's nice to have you, I stumbled upon this site the way you did, just looking for anything that would give me a bit of relief and help me get back my elusive being called sleep!!!
Most of us put too much pressure on sleeping at the right times and I know how it feels to go days without sleep, I would get so upset and cry myself to sleep I was so exhausted but I would jump awake after maybe 10-15 mins!! And it just seems to go on forever!! When u talk about exercise, I know it's suppose to make us so tired we sleep but that really didn't help me either, as a matter of fact it made me so exhausted I cudnt even get up to go to the loo but did I sleep??? NO.
I'm now not so hard on myself, if I can't do it cuz I'm too tired then I don't do it!! It can wait!!!
It will all still be there when you wake up!! Lol
I hope you find what your looking for but if not at least you know there are others standing with you on those lonely nights of wakefulness!!
October 30, 2012 at 10:30 am #14212Haha, thanks lisajane! Well I'm off today so I dnt make such an effort to sleep if I don't, I mean I woke up the night before around 10 or 11 and stayed up pretty much all day til about 1am the next day, I might have had like a 2hr nap, but once I wake, its like forget it, going back to sleep isn't even in the realm of possibilities haha. But I'm so happy I have u guys here to share all the dreaded insomnia parties I know I'll be having in the near future, like tomorrow more than likely haha 🙂
