      Hello,

I'm new to this Forum. Just joined today. I'm 49 year old Male. Married with three children. Very good life very good health everything is great except for my sleeping. Been dealing with sleeping issues from when I was about 10. All started when couldn't sleep due to exciting next day. This basically followed me my whole life. It elevated to the point when anything important the next day I convinced myself I can't sleep. The biggest problem is I know the horrible feeling of the next day and force sleep. I know this should be easy fix but it's not it's horrible. I dread vacations or anything fun because I do it with no sleep. I feel I tried everything. I've tried therapy and they throw medicine out me that I don't like. I currently take klonopin as needed. I usually take .5 mg and some times only take half of that. As of late I've been trying to get off of that also because even that doesn't work. On these days when I don't sleep I go into a funk the next day. It's not like I'm even tired I get like upset depressed because I have a feeling of doom. Any suggestions would obviously be appreciated l. Sorry about the long post. I'm committed to beating this

Long-term sleep issues are usually triggered by short-term sleep disruption or a single stressful event. In your case it sounds like that night of disrupted sleep due to excitement triggered your chronic sleep issues. What kind of therapy did you try that offered medication? CBT for insomnia typically doesn't involve beginning a new medication regimen.
