    Looking for Sleep
    ✘ Not a client

Hello – this is my first post. I have never had any problems sleeping. As a matter of fact, I always looked forward to night time and my cozy bed. Back in January of this year, I had a bad respiratory infection, and all of a sudden, I developed never before experienced anxiety. At first, I blew it off, thinking it was a one time thing. Well, it’s been 3 months, and I still have anxiety, which in turn triggered insomnia since the anxiety kept me up all night on certain nights. I had a few good days, and I am keeping a log so I can see if I am getting better. This week, the anxiety came back, and for the past 4 days, I only slept about 1-3 hours, which leaves me shaky and extremely fatigued and of course fearful for the next night. I hope this group can help me find coping methods and mostly hope that this vicious cycle can be stopped, Thanks for listening.

Sorry to hear about the respiratory infection. Your experience doesn’t sound unique or unusual — although it is, of course, difficult!

With sleep, the more we get involved in the process, the more difficult it often becomes. With difficult thoughts and feelings like anxiety, the more we try to fight or avoid them, the more difficult they often become.

What’s your current plan of action for improving your current situation, other than keeping a sleep log?
