      Hello!

      I am new to Insomnia Land and to insomnia. I have always slept like a baby in my adult life (49 yrs old) until last Thanksgiving. I am excited to talk to some fellow sufferers because I feel very isolated. It is comforting to know that when I'm stuggling to get to sleep, there are others out there going through the same thing!

          The knee is better, thanks to physical therapy. At first I was prescribed trazidone, which did not help. Now I am on zolpidem, which helps me get about 3-4 hours a night. I guess zolpidem is another term for ambien. Around mid-January I went cold-turkey and I got to a point where I was sleeping more or less normally, but my problem was falling back asleep after getting up in the middle of the night. Now, I have regressed big-time. My doctor recommended that I see a counselor to help me with my sleep habits. A night before I was to see her I couldn't get to sleep and that's been my pattern for a couple weeks now. Go to bed around 10:30, usually I'm pretty tired, then toss and turn for 2 hours until I take a zolpidem to put me out.

            You'd probably be a good candidate for CBT. Have you looked into it?
