      Hello, I’ve had insomnia for 3 years with very little restful sleep, only light sleep and always living in “a fog” feeling out-of-touch with life.
      I’ve been prescribed Ambien but have weaned myself off this trying to take only on really bad, hyperarroused nights. I may get a few hours of light sleep which is better for than a whole night of no sleep. It’s always a toss up! Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t’. . In replacement, some nights I take a low dose of Melatonin & Ashwaghanda & it as well only allows me maybe 3-4 hrs of light sleep but I prefer supplements over Rx meds. I can’t remember the last time these last 3 years I’ve had a whole night of deep, restful sleep. ( I can even think about trying to take a nap”) it can’t happen , my brain won’t shut off. I try not to think about sleep but it’s a hard habit to break when your
      “ fearing” the night is approaching and your wondering if your even able to ever sleep again.
      Do you have any suggestions how I could try & get my “ natural” refreshing deep sleep back again ?
      I know it’s about “ letting go” but nothing is working for me.

        Without doing a sleep study, it is impossible to know what kind of sleep you had. Want to know the best remedy for getting the best sleep? Do nothing, Expect nothing and try to Think nothing. Your body knows what kind of sleep it needs and it knows how to get it. Your job is just to set the right conditions for it, winding down close to bedtime, a good sleeping environment and most importantly, a consistent bedtime schedule. That’s all. Good luck.

            Good day

            I understand your situation. I have same struggles trying to get deep sleep but my anxiety, overthinking and brain not shutting down prevents me. I am hopeful to get my natural deep sleep and rest back. I try to unwind about 1 hour before bedtime. I will fall asleep but most times I get up feeling tired not rested. It’s really hard at times.
