Not getting that tired from SRT

      I’ve been observing a window of 1 am to 6 am now at least 3 weeks and while I have
      gotten a few times it hasn’t been enough to really get into a deep sleep to break the cycle of insomnia that I’ve been in now for over a year, I will mention that I take naps in the afternoon that some times go over an hour so that could be getting in the way but I’m still stunned as to how my body and mind can ward off complete fatigue from basically getting what amounts to 3 to 4 hours of light sleep\rest kind of crazy the only thing it could be is the afternoon nap so maybe I will cut that out completely until I get to the point of being extremely tired to where my eyes won’t stay open.

      The reason I insist on the naps in the afternoon is because I’ve gotten out of this pattern
      I’m in before and how it worked was I built up so much sleep debt that when I started implementing the naps I would pretty well fall into a deep sleep during them and when bed time rolled came around I would also fall asleep then so it seems like I had to fall asleep during the naps before I could do it at bed time or even be tired enough at night just my experience has anyone else experienced this also because it seems as though I’ve lost my ability to sleep even though I know its not possible.

        If you’re getting around three to four hours of sleep at night and an hour or more of sleep during the day, it sounds as though you could be getting five hours (or maybe a bit more) of sleep in any 24 hour period — and this could help explain why you aren’t feeling intense fatigue, since you’re getting a reasonable amount of sleep.

        This sleep also provides you with evidence that you haven’t lost the ability to sleep — so that’s hopefully one less thing for you to worry about!

        Since one of the goals with the sleep window is to build sleep drive, it’s usually helpful to avoid daytime naps since they reduce sleep drive. So, if your goal is better sleep at night it can often be useful to eliminate those daytime naps.
