      Hi everyone!

hope to find here some gentle support, as I find it hard to open myself about these issues with people that are not close to me.

my sleep problems started last winter, along with my baby’s frequent wakings through the night for feeding, but somehow I managed to pass it over when spring came. They started back this winter, this time having the background of tensions between me and my partner, which caused us to sleep separately and created even more unhappiness between us.

Recently I find it hard to even fall asleep at nursing time with the baby – which before, when insomnia happened only if I’d stayed awake after putting him to sleep, used to be the saving solution. Now I feel I have no saving solution, and the nights with no sleep at all are simply overwhelming. I tend to react to the loved ones with rage and anger, which makes situation even more complicated.

        Hi Ioana

do you have insomnia or are just having problems sleeping because you get woken up by the baby?

because not sleeping because you Can’t and having your sleep limited because of disruption are two different things.

          Hi Carls

Before I just use to get miserable sleep due to frequent wakings for nursing, but for one-two months now I seem not to be able to fall asleep. It happens only when my partner is there (though sleeping in another room), if I’m alone wih the baby I manage to sleep.

Sorry to hear about your struggles with sleep, Ioana. When this is combined with raising a baby the effects can be really hard and even more challenging.

It sounds as though your sleep may be disrupted due to the current situation with your partner since you mentioned that falling asleep only tends to be a problem when your partner is in the house.

Relationship stress is a common trigger for sleep disruption. Usually, the best way to tackle sleep disruption caused (and perpetuated) by an identifiable external problem is to tackle the external problem first.

              Thanks Martin.

yes, so true – I have to see how to approach my relationship struggles, otherwise I’m sleeping pretty well.

Anyhow, your piece of advice within the free course is helpful as when I don’t manage to sleep I perpetuate my anxiety with lots of worries.
