      Decided I want support for my recent (last couple of months of periodic insomnia. I was trying to help myself with sleep aides but that began to back fire, causing more worry when I didn’t fall asleep right away or woke up later. One big trigger is if I’m dozing off and something wakes me up, like my husband making noise. Hoping this forum will feel supportive. I think if I feel less alone with this, I will be able to relax more.

        You are NOT alone! As you have rightly identified, experimenting with sleep aids is rarely helpful and certainly isn’t a long term solution! Have you tried implementing cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) techniques to get your sleep back on track?
