      Hi Angelic

Firstly like Luke I too have l been sleeping much better than I was when started this thread in 2023 so please don’t stress! It 100% was sleep anxiety induced and like others have said things will get better once it fizzles out. For me the pendulum pattern lasted a few weeks before it got better, and then I started having patches of good sleep broken up by few rough nights. Last year I had a few weeks of sleep anxiety again after almost a year of good sleep, so I freaked out and went back to watching Martin and the sleep coach schools videos on YouTube just to help ease my mind, and eventually went back to sleeping normally again. Like Luke said try to go about your life as normally as you can, and you when show your anxiety that there’s nothing to be worried about because you can function even if you can’t sleep, your sleep will return eventually as your hyperarousal melts away. It won’t happen instantly and you will encounter speed bumps, but the more rough patches you go through the more you’ll realise that sleep will always return and eventually your subconscious mind will realise there’s truly nothing to be afraid of.

Thank you so much for posting this reply, and I’m happy to hear you are recovered. May I ask – did you have a trigger / life event that started it all? And you said the pendulum pattern lasted a few weeks, was that after the four weeks from when you posted? I’m just curious. I know the healing is not a linear thing and that it follows its own course and with your own natural biorhythms. Again thank you for checking in, it means so much!

I’ve been dealing with insomnia for two years (post menopausal) and finally went to an integrative medicine doctor. Put me on supplements in the hopes of regulating/balancing my body. For the first couple of months, I improved, but then started backsliding to the point I can only sleep every other night or two. Literally find myself crying on the nights I’m unable to sleep. It’s affecting my mood/outlook on life. I’m losing hope that I’ll be able to sleep normally ever again.
