Why do I sleep better when I am working and completely stressed out than when I am having a calm, chill day? This makes no sense to me. Is it because the stress actually tires me out more? I am a teacher and sometimes my days are rough and intense. I sleep better on those days than when I have a calm day or a day off.

It sounds as though you’ve found that sleep seems to happen a lot more naturally when you are engaged in living a rich and meaningful life (and experiencing all the difficult thoughts and feelings — such as stress — that come with that)!

Another thing to consider is that when we do less during our days, we might need less sleep — and, in turn, get less sleep!

If you are ready to stop struggling with insomnia you can enroll in the online insomnia coaching course right now! If you would prefer ongoing phone or video coaching calls as part of a powerful three month program that will help you reclaim your life from insomnia, consider applying for the Insomnia Mastery program.

Thank you, Martin. That makes a lot of sense. Sometimes people ask me why I don’t “rest” and nap. I never nap. It’s because I sleep better when I tire myself out. I do work out over an hour every day but sometimes that is not enough. Somehow it seems like stress helps me sleep better. Interesting.
