I say ‘sort of’ because I don’t think my recovery was a true one. I slept well from Monday night to Saturday night, but I drank alcohol every one of those days. I drank in order to sleep on Monday after 6 ish weeks of very little sleep, so I can see that my ‘recovery’ was driven by fear and confidence in the alcohol rather than myself, even after experiencing several days of sleep. A little voice told me ‘you need to drink to sleep’. Didn’t drink last night… no sleep. So I have to start again, but at least this time I have slept recently and my habit of panic on no sleep is broken. Committing myself to sleep restriction tonight and will not, as my first plan for today was, put off some difficult work tasks until later in the week.
