Wanted to write a short post of my experiences . Before I got coaching with Martin I was going through a pretty bad Insomnia period. Averaging 3, 4 hours a night, if that. I reached out to therapists one who said ” you know there is no cure for that you’re going to need to take drugs “.I was desperate to getting this fixed ,but the catch 22 the more you think about it the worst it gets . It was consuming my life . Around 6 , 7 pm anxiety would creep in . I hated the night time cause I would think another horrible night. In fact I don’t even like talking about it.
I am a Martial arts teacher , gym enthusiast, but how am I supposed to train clients and myself without proper rest. Furthermore the torture I would put on myself. You’re a martial artist you should have the mental strength to beat this. Nothing was working to make a long story short till I found Coach Martin and CBT-I. What I learned was there is so much misinformation out there about sleep. You don’t actually need the 7 8 hours ( its nice though). There is no proof insomnia leads to any disease or health problems. Most important you don’t need drugs !
So after following the 8 week course , I am back to averaging 7 hours a night. Life is beautiful again. I love the evenings and nights. No more fear of nighttime . I feel myself again. In fact I realize I never was a good sleeper . This is the best I’ve ever slept in my lifetime.
