Great topic! I watch a lot of movies; I guess I could say I'm an amateur film bug.
Good luck with keeping that title with Yam around – you'll have to arm wrestle to decide who is the biggest and best amateur film bug at Insomnia Land 😉

I'm afraid I'm a bit of a pansy. Haha!
May 3, 2011 at 6:38 pm #9158Last night my wife and I watched 'A Single Man' – it's directed by Tom Ford and set in the 60s. It follows Colin Firth whose partner dies in a car accident and as a result Firth decides he wants to end his life. Throughout the film there are distractions to his plan and it's a long period of reflection (for the viewer and the character, I think).
My wife picked it from the Netflix DVD queue as 'her' movie – she didn't think I'd like it. I actually thought it was pretty good, though. Has anyone else seen it?

The latest (good) movies I've seen lately are Black Swan, Fur: The Imaginative Diary of Diane Arbus, and Elizabeth: The Golden Age. To be fair, though, it wasn't the first time I'd seen “Fur”. I just like watching it every now and then.
Film nut eh? Awesome!!
Fave movie/genre?
How many DVDs/BluRays you got? Downloads? 😀

Not seen it yet, but want to looks like a great movie.
I went and saw Thor in 3D last week (the day before being AGAIN in hospital!!!) and I must admit it was pretty good, and things are building up for the upcoming Avengers movie nicely…the scene after the credits of Iron Man 2 is shown too (not say what that is in case people have not seen it…spoilers and all!!) and there is a scene after the credits on this movie too (Marvel seem to be doing that a lot with their movies it seems!!)
I also bought Tron Classic (I'm now waiting for Tron Zero and Diet Tron to be released ;cP ) and Tron Legacy on BluRay and they are pretty damn awesome!
Hoping to see Fast and Furious 5 in the next week or so, looks pretty damn good…oh and Captain America: The First Avenger too in 3D!!!

Not for me. Wasn't won over Natalie Portman's character so I wasn't invested enough to care about her situation or what happened to her. Vincent Cassel was good despite his character being pretty stereotypical and two dimensional.
The rest was just shock tactics and feathers. The ballet was cool though.

I went to see Fast Five last week. It was awesome! Not to complicated storyline, really nice rides, terrific action-scenes. At the end it was a bit over the top but I don't mind.
I loved seeing The Rock and Vin Diesel in one movie. Always nice to get some eyecandy!
Little tip if you didn't see it yet. There's another scene after the first credits. Stay seated because it's a real teaser!
May 24, 2011 at 9:33 am #9162Well, I watched Black Swan couple nights back…and it's an odd mix of insanity, sex and ballet and I kinda liked it 🙂
Saw Thor 3D few weeks back, was good fun and I'm looking forward to seeing The Avengers next year….bit at the end of this movie too after the credits.
May 24, 2011 at 6:42 pm #9163I watched Black Swan last week, too. Not sure what I thought about it. Perhaps a little over-hyped? I thought it was all a bit basic in terms of storyline and the 'deep meaning' of fighting herself – it was just done in a weird way, which I think is the reason it got all the attention.

May 25, 2011 at 7:38 pm #9164It seems to be blockbuster-week here.
Yesterday I went to see Thor.
I liked it. Some funny stuff, nice actors, good action-scenes (I'm a big fan of those) and not too predictable.
Today I saw Pirates of the Caribbean 4
It was a lot better than the 3rd one. Not so confusing, but still Jack Sparrow as we know him. A big coward except when it really matters.
Some nice one-liners (I like to report muteny. I can point names and say fingers.)
All-in-all a niece duo in my humbel opninion.
By the way, did anybody see Priest. Missed in the theatre and I'm now waiting untill it's available online.
May 25, 2011 at 7:40 pm #9165Sorry, should have been humble…
June 6, 2011 at 2:17 pm #9166I'm currently on a kinda “movie hiatus” not been able to get to the cinema due to illness sadly….I have been watching a few TV shows on DVD and BluRay though!!
June 6, 2011 at 7:31 pm #9167I recently watched OSS 117 and would really recommend it. It's a French parody of James Bond. Very funny and a movie I hadn't heard of until my wife randomly put it on.

June 6, 2011 at 7:43 pm #9168OSS 117 sounds interesting…thanks for sharing sir 🙂
June 19, 2011 at 10:48 am #9169Been watching through several downloads that I have got from iTunes or with various discs at the moment, have this week watched the following:
Predator, Predator 2, Predators: I love this franchise and the first 2 movies are pretty awesome…however Predators is pretty dire and was just plain awful!
Despicable Me: Oh man this movie made me laugh, this is a great family film about an evil genius who turns kinda good…but the best part of the movie has to be the Minions!
Zombieland: I loved this when I saw it at the cinema, and watching it again…it's still just as great! I love this movie, and Tallahaase makes me want a Twinkie…whatever one of those is!
Date Night: Kinda predictable romantic comedy, but not too bad, made me laugh a few times.
Autopsy: A mad doctor experiments on people in an abandoned hospital. Not brilliant.
300: Bloody hell, this is just one awesome movie, Zach Snyder really does know his stuff!! Speaking of which…
Watchmen: I own the Ultimate Cut, which is basically the directo'rs cut of the movie with Tales on the Black Freighter animation sprinkled in for good measure, making it over 3 hours long. I like this movie, but the original or director's cut is better.
I have been having a bit of a Star Wars binge too…so far I have watched Ewoks: Battle for Endor, Ewoks: Caravan of Courage and Episode I: The Phantome menace this weekend.
Damn…I have waaaaay too much time on my hands…
