I'm a huge MK fan myself, having played almost every game released (only ones not played so far are the 2 Mythologies games and the recently released one) and on pretty much every format too! Have you checked out the new web series on YouTube? Brilliant stuff….incidentally who is your favourite character? For me it is between SubZero and Raiden 🙂
I really like superhero movies and Watchmen has to be one of the best I've watched…I have 2 versions of the movie too…theatrical and the Ultimate Cut (basically the directors cut with tales of the black freighter mixed in). I saw it at the cinema too and it was easily the best movie I saw that year…and yes, that music was brilliantly suited to THAT scene 😛I'm not really sure what exactly I think of Labyrinth…I mean it's ok, but it's no Dark Crystal!!
I have not chequed out the web series! Didn't know there was one! Raiden has to be my personal favorite. There's something about his basic costume template that always looks so original and interesting. One of those things “if it isn't broke, don't fix it”.
Watchmen has to be one of the best superhero movies I've seen, too. I love when noir styles (thank you, Rorschach!) mix into movies nowadays, especially the parts of Watchmen where it added to the dystopian theme. Call me voyeuristic, but I love dystopian movies. (Must mention Repo: The Musical.) The end of Watchmen, particularly, where there's a surge of 'hope' for mankind secretly brought about by Veidt's cunning. It's simply a fascinating story, and satisfies both my comic book geek and wishful psychologist. Ha ha!
Oh, and Dark Crystal. Thank goodness I'm not the only person who remembers that movie! Every time my friends pull out Labyrinth (for the hundredth time), it's all I can think about. I'll have to make them watch it.
July 9, 2011 at 7:57 pm #9186Repo! The Genetic Opera? I want to see that looks awesome, but not been able to get hold of it on BRD…wonder if it's available on iTunes…
I've been a superhero geek as far back as I can remember, I'm looking forward to The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers next year. I have a few movies on BRD, mostly the Batman ones though (I'm currently hunting down the cheesetastic Batman The Movie from the 60s!!) as that is the main superhero I've always liked the most.
The Dark Crystal is epic, as a kid it was one of my favorite movies, it was just beautiful and fantastical, and I think it will always hold a special place in my heart!
I watched Salt this weekend….not the most epic movie, but not too bad either…and the BRD has 3 versions of the movie on it too.
July 9, 2011 at 8:36 pm #9187Yeah I thought the same about Salt. Reminded me of Mr and Mrs Smith, but the story was a little bit different.

July 14, 2011 at 7:41 pm #9188Watched Transformers: Dark of the Moon in 3D today…the story was only marginally better than Revenge of the Fallen…and the 3D was total rubbish.
Currently watching The Residen on BluRay…looks pretty good so far.
July 20, 2011 at 8:02 pm #9189Finally got around to watching the King's Speech last night. I actually really enjoyed it, but my wife complained after half an hour that it was too slow for her (I could see where she was coming from) but I liked it nonetheless. You could really feel the character's frustration and fears. I'd say Firth was well deserving of the Oscar.

July 23, 2011 at 12:59 pm #9190The King's Speech was pretty good…granted a slow roller, but it had to be I feel.
Watched Unstoppable last week, pretty good movie kinda predictable and based on a true story….flatmate got bored in first 30 mins though!
July 26, 2011 at 7:17 pm #9191Watched Insidious last night as everyone was telling me how scary it was. I have to say, it wasn't scary at all and I am still searching for the elusive scary horror movie.

July 26, 2011 at 7:56 pm #9192There is no such thing.
July 27, 2011 at 3:24 am #9193That's what I feared 😉

July 27, 2011 at 7:24 am #9194It's annoying to be honest…but I'm not sure if it is a case of society basically getting desensitized to gore and violence (prime example, watch the news, you'll usually see something that looks pretty grim, and it's pretty much an every day thing…or watch the charity begging commercials which are supposed to be distressing, call me callous, but after a while you get used to it.).
Perhaps due to the violent World we live in, there will never ever be such a thing any more.
July 28, 2011 at 6:45 pm #9195Well the only film that ever scared me was Blair Witch Project when that was first released. I don't think gore or violence is scary anymore as we've been desensitized to it, like you say. Real fear is the unknown and that's what horror movies should play on, rather than shock/gore/violence.
Just my 2 cents 😉

July 28, 2011 at 7:06 pm #9196Valid point, this is why Japenese horror is so good…the mess with your head 😎
August 1, 2011 at 6:38 pm #9197So recommend me a good Japanese horror movie (not the ring though).

August 3, 2011 at 9:04 am #9198Um…NOT The Ring? Boring lol
OK…um, let's see….Ju-On The Grudge and Black Water are good, although they do not scare me I liked them. One Missed Call isn't too bad either.
However if you have seen the US versions of these movies, it kinda ruins it.
August 10, 2011 at 5:25 pm #9199Went and saw Captain America this week, wasn't too bad…and I'm looking forward to The Avengers next May!!
I've also opened up a US iTunes account and downloaded a couple of movies as they are cheaper than UK…currently got Red Riding Hood and Skinwalkers for $22….it's just annoying that I'm getting charged a further $5 for the credit I buy…wish there was a better way….
Next film I'm hoping to see is Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
