😆 sounds.. interesting! I do love cheesy b-horrors though. Often at weekends I'll just chill out on the sofa to a donner kebab, a few cans of Yorkshire bitter and The Horror Channel.

The last one I watched was called Frankenhooker, and oh God do I regret watching that haha. I like cheesy horrors but, my God, not THAT cheesy! 😆

Some guy's girlfriend got eaten by a lawnmower so he stitched her back together using body parts from hookers that exploded from a super-strain of crack cocaine. That's right, they smoked it and literally exploded, arms and legs flying all over the hotel room.

Oh man…Farnkenhooker, not seen that for years!! Awfully cheesy would be the kindest way to describe it.

No new movies watched of late but recently watched ET, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Scum, Daredevil, Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate, Deadly Friend, Eden Lake, Choose, Resident Evil, Despicable Me and Ninja Assassin….not found anything truly epic to watch of later though…if anyone has some suggestions that would be cool 🙂

Okay, I'll bravely jump in here. I'm usually not into fantasy/scifi movies, but I decided to watch all three “Lord of the Rings” movies (from Netflix). I just finished the last one — wow, terrific!! And isn't it funny how you'll see an actor in a movie and think “Where have I seen that guy before??” Well, with this movie series, it was one of the hobbits, Merry, who looked oh, so familiar. Looked him up on IMDB website — and he's Charlie, from the “Lost” tv show! What a change in character and looks, but yes, it's him.

I tried watching the first one when I was in New Zealand but I got bored and gave up. I've heard from a few people that the first one is particularly slow but it's worth slogging through it. Would you agree?

I'd say it was worth it, I love the books and the movies are truly epic….were you trying to watch the standard or extended versions?

I watched a fan-made film last night called S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Monolith's Whisper, revolved around my favourite game series (S.T.A.L.K.E.R), and I have to say, it was better than 99.9999999% of the tosh they churn out of Hollywood, that's for sure! Not only that, I was particularly impressed about how they captured the feeling of isolation and the general atmosphere of 'The Zone' in the film.

As it's a fanmade movie the acting isn't exactly Sir Michael Caine, and of course with a $1,000 budget the CGI is not Steven Spielberg, but the storyline; the atmosphere; the plot and the general portrayal of The Zone and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S themselves as absolutely bloody brilliant.

After watching the film on YouTube (legally, it's on their official YouTube account), I immediately went to their website and bought the DVD (with extended footage etc) out of gratitude for their efforts and donated some money, they are going to make a sequel to explain the cliffhanger ending but need funds.

Any S.T.A.L.K.E.R fans here, you can watch the film on the official Monolith Whispers' channel:

                  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMz8CJKqUQw

Even if you've never played STALKER, check the film out, it explains the background of The Zone in the first few minutes anyway and who knows, might make you wanna play the BEST GAME EVER MADE. EVER.

Err, just the normal one I think? Can't be sure though. All that happened in the first hour was a bunch of people walking along a path to see some wizard or goblin of some sort. (Is my ignorance obvious?!)

Not heard of the game, but I'll definitely check the movie out.

You probably won't 'get' the film without playing the game, but it pretty much explains as much as it can in the first few mins. People who've never played the game think the film's too slow for an 'action film', but the game isn't an FPS/shoot 'em up, it's more of a survival RPG. It's made by a Ukrainian company based around a fictional second disaster of Chernobyl, causing mutations; anomalies and a strict military cordoning of 'The Zone' (based on the real-life Zone of Alienation around Chernobyl).

It's seriously the best game I've ever played, unlike Western game companies, this one has really put a lot of thought into the AI; gameplay; the world its self

                      Here's the game trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kjrl0L5dQI

Some nice classics in your list yam.

I was forced to go and see Twilight 4 yesterday. The tiny spark of hope I had (maybe this time around it wouldn't be as awful) was crushed at the very beginning. Then two more hours of monstrosity watching came along.

Just when I taught, hmm interesting, the movie ended.

So unless you're 14 years old, wear braces and must yell when you see a pale 29-year old, my advice: Stay away

Luckily there's light a the end over every tunnel. Back at home, 'The Corpse Bride' by Tim Burton was on. Instant relief!

The last film I saw was the last Harry Potter movie. Very good it was too. Next week me and my daughter are going to see the new Sherlock Homes film. I loved the first one and this one looks as if it will be just as good.

I do love a good horror movie though. Tommy I hadn't heard of that cheesy one you mentioned. I shall have to check it out. Can't get much cheesier than Hammer Horror films though, with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. 😆

My wife and I watched Limitless last night and I really enjoyed it. It's about a burnt-out writer who takes this new drug that unlocks the 'unused' 80% of our brains. This turns him into a bonafide genius – he finishes his book, becomes a trader, become rich and soon runs for office. Unfortunately, others know about the power of the drug and are determined to get their hands on the limited supply – oh, and it turns out that the drug has some serious side-effects.

                              I'd highly recommend it.

Thanks for the suggestion, Martin. Sounds like a good film.

I've recently watched some of the free streaming on HBO and caught the 2-part special on George Harrison. Very interesting, very informative.

Also, I've decided to catch up with “Babylon 5” on Netflix. My daughter watched it years ago and loved it, but I'm not a sci-fi fan so wasn't really interested. For some reason, about a month or so ago, I decided to give it a try, and I'm hooked! Anyone else a past fan of that show?

Ah, no HBO here – don't even have cable. We get about five channels using a TV antenna, and everything else is from Netflix!
