      I’m new here and I’m so sorry about what I’m posting. I’m not a mad woman but a respected foster mum and an animal sanctuary. I also have fibromyalgia and chronic migraines

      My insomnia is back and I feel so worthless, useless, not worthy and the feeling of self loathing I have because I can’t sleep are overwhelming. I want to smash my head in to teach it a lesson. I feel so lost and don’t know what to do. I’ve gone back on amitriptyline but it’s just not helping. I’m trying/doing well to keep a lid on my anxiety but the hatred for myself is so strong at the moment. I’m scared I’ll loose my foster daughter who is 28 with mild learning disabilities and my partner who is only home at weekends.

      So sorry about the drama, I’m usually a sane level headed person.

        I’m in a similar situation with severe insomnia. One thing is for sure is that it’s not you. It’s a disease. If you suffer from anxiety or depression or both like i do, the one thing that i know for sure is that i didn’t ask for this. You sound like a wonderful and caring person. In addition to a med management Dr who prescribed the amitryptoline do you have a therapist?  Obviously the insomnia coach does CBT but i am also learning more about my disease and triggers (not just nighttime) with the help of a therapist.           You CAN sleep, Lesav. It sounds as though you are experiencing a setback, though.

          Had you been through a course or program to help address your insomnia or did it go away on its own and now it has seemingly returned?

          Is it possible that there’s another explanation for your current struggle with sleep? It might be that there is an identifiable external cause of your sleep issues at the current time (for example, stress). In other words, your current problem might not be evidence of your insomnia returning — it might just be a natural reaction to some kind of stressor.
