My psychiatrist prescribed 2 pills for me after trying me on practically all of the current sleeping pills. He has me on Ambien CR and Silenor. I never thought I'd be able to get to sleep at night in a timely manner, but taking these two together actually help! I was very skeptical. So far it's working and I've been taking them together for about 3 weeks. Is it okay or normal for a doctor to prescribe both at the same time? Is it safe? I don't seem to be having any side effects beyond being very groggy in the morning, and I can't focus my eyes together (I have a slight lazy eye), so I go back to sleep and wake up fine.

Should I be looking for any signs of problems? It's just my anxiety cropping up a little I guess. I don't feel that the doctor has done anything bad by prescribing them together. Do you take two sleeping pills together? How long until it quits working? Thanks!!

Hey Brittany, I have never taken that combo of drugs but I have mixed others together…xanax and seqroquel, or xanax and lunesta. Sometimes combining these is the only thing to help and my doctor has prescribed them with the understanding that I can add the other if the one alone is not working. If you feel uncomfortable with this, I would call him and make sure these are ok to mix. Good luck! Glad you are at least getting some sleep!
