      I know its early, but I want to share with those that are still struggling, there is HOPE!!
      I have had insomnia for 15 years, plus. I like most tried prescription, as well as over the counter meds. This was what I called “make believe sleep.”
      I just finished the 4th week of Martin’s course.
      I realize if I am going to be successful, I must commit! It’s not easy like most successes in life.

      Now the good news. Two nights ago, I went to bed, went through what Martin has taught me. I should add, the previous day, I hit the NOW assignment hard!! I fell asleep, which in itself I thought was a success at 10:30 pm, inside my window. I woke at midnight, thinking this was it, not going to be able to fall back to sleep, laid back down, next thing I knew it was 8;15 am, the, the alarm going off for 15 minutes!! I sleep for 8 plus hours, unheard of!!

      Last night I went to bed, thinking was last night going to be just a fluke. I laid down, couldn’t sleep, read for about 15 minutes till my sleep pressure was up. I sleep solid for about 7 hours!! Again, unheard of!! This is almost a miracle. I truly believe during the day practicing the NOW, as well as the AWAKE helped me. You got to really get inside your brain!!

      For the now I tell my brain during the day, “Thank you brain, fix it, will talk about it later” For the AWAKE, I tell my brain, “Welcome” as in welcome any anxiety, any negative thoughts, any sensations, like fast heartbeat, just welcoming all of it. This was shared with me by one of Martin’s clients. I know its early, but I have hope, as everyone else should. I will keep all posted!!

        congratulations !! well done !! glad to see successes like this on the forum
        i am just starting with the sleep windows and stimulus control etc

        it is hard going to work on little to no sleep, as i know u know that only too well

          That’s a wonderful testimony to your commitment and success story! Congrats!

          I’m a huge believer in the AWAKE exercise and feel it can be beneficial for those suffering insomnia. As you eluded though, Martin’s program doesn’t differ much from any other program you embark on (e.g., new fitness regimen, etc) – if you consistently exercise patience while following the steps, you’ll likely see positive outcomes.

            Packer Fan, I’m so happy to hear how well you’re doing! It’s amazing, isn’t it, how a situation that seems so hopeless can suddenly begin to fill with light as hope returns. As someone who once thought I would NEVER be cured of raging insomnia and who has come out the other side at last (not 100%, but close!) it pleases me no end to hear about other people’s success. Keep going!!
