I have had ( what I would say is ) chronic insomnia for over a year now and tested positive for covid 2 weeks ago . I also found Martin’s podcasts pretty much the same day .., for the last 2 weeks I have slept better than I have in a loooooooong time and I think it’s partly the covid, partly the being off work ( less stress) and partly taking on board cbt-I methods . Either way I almost feel like I have “broken the habit “ but don’t want to count my chickens just yet as I’m still under the weather and this might be helping me sleep ?? Either way I am over the moon . Long may it last . I had tried everything known to man before this and it only seemed to be getting worse ……. Anyway I’m not suggesting anyone goes out and catches covid – just that sometimes a big circuit breaker can also help ??

        Hi @Gaylemiller,

I hope you get better soon! I wonder if putting less effort towards sleep recently has benefited you in achieving better sleep? Typically, the more we try to sleep better, the more difficult sleep becomes since sleep doesn’t reward our hard work.

Yes I discovered Martin’s podcast about cbt-I at the same time as getting covid and I think the the two things complemented each other ( along with not going to work ) to help me break the awful cycle I was in
