      Hello, I am new to this forum. Basically my sleep anxiety started a few months ago after watching some videos made by a man called Karl merciea, a Maltese man who believes he has fatal insomnia. This got the ball rolling and before I knew it I was anxious all day and night about going to sleep. Despite this, I continued to sleep well, 8-9 unbroken hours a night. After awhile of living with this anxiety the inevitable happened, I had a completely sleepless night followed by another completely sleepless night. I was completely exhausted and admittedly the next night I drank a lot of alcohol to get to sleep, and I did get to sleep. This seemed to do the trick and I slept soundly the following week without the help of alcohol. Then the week later, the sleep anxiety crept up once again and I had another sleepless night, this is when I reached out to the sleep coach school YouTube channel and there advice helped me achieve long lasting restorative sleep every night for 2 months, this past week the sleep anxiety has been creeping up and guess what happened last night? I had another sleepless night. I’ve tried various things to shake this anxiety surrounding sleep when it crops up but haven’t found anything effective. Any advice or personal anecdotes which could assist me?

        I too struggle a lot with this sleep anxiety. Right now, I am in a deep hole too and don’t know what to do. I know all the theory (accept…), but when I lay down, anxiety and intrusive thoughts hit me. It is very frightening.

          Yes I am struggling to find anything helpful. In my case I work myself up all day to the point I think i may enter a State of hyperarousal which prevents sleep. In truth i don’t know, this is all speculation but personally I’m looking for some hope and positivity about the situation I’m in.
