I am 56 and have been a great sleeper my entire life. I would lay my head down and fall asleep. My husband struggled with insomnia most of our 31 year marriage and now falls asleep in mid sentence while laying in bed. He had sleep apnea and now wears a c-pap machine. I sometimes wonder if his fast sleep makes it harder for me to relax! I would love any advice that anyone has! I take Ambien and would really like to stop!

        Greetings
Sleep is perhaps the only thing that backfires the more effort you make. It works like this: the longer you go without it, the sleepier you’ll get and therefore the more likely you will fall asleep. So stop overthinking and overdoing it, have a regular bedtime schedule and let the dust settle down. Then you will slowly ease back into your slumber like before. Easy does it and best wishes to you!
