Hi all. Been sleeping well the last few months but had a really rough night last night and realized I have a new problem with my sleep. I have this thing where as I am drifting off into sleep I suddenly wake back up and am aware that I was about to fall asleep. Sometimes its a small twitch, other times there is no twitch at all I just wake up. This will happen 3 – 5 times in a row, and then I start to get agitated if I didnt fall asleep. Now the sleepy feeling I had is leaving me and I am wide awake again, and time is ticking in my 8 hour sleep window. I did however eventually fall asleep and stay asleep, and got somewhere between 5 and 6 hours. I was going to get out of bed but I was so tired I stayed in bed anyways and fell asleep. Now I’m here worrying about it again. I did some research today and sadly it seems there are people who suffer with this problem for years with no help. I don’t even know if it counts as “insomnia” as I have no issue feeling sleepy and my body is trying to fall asleep.

        Greetings!
Your question is not new and you have been posting the same exact “problem” a couple of months back! So when you are truly going to give up the struggle and being accepting of whatever sleep you get?? Because nobody ever has any control over sleep to begin with. And you know coming here and asking endless questions about it probably won’t help you in a big way anyway. The way sleep works is: Less sleep on one night = increased chance of better sleep next night or the night after, and vice versa. It’s not rocket science
