I am going to try sleep restriction and I’m wondering since I already wake up at 3am every morning, can I use 3am as my wake up time? I get 5.5 hours of sleep on good days. So I would go to bed at 9pm with my kids and wake up at 3am gradually adding 15 minutes later if my sleep efficiency is 85% or better. Have you tried doing it this way? Does it work or is it better for my sleep drive to go to sleep at 11pm and wake up at 5am?

I would suggest going with whatever out of bed time feels most “workable” and appropriate for you.

        These questions might help:

If you never gave sleep a second thought and you got the exact amount and type of sleep you wanted, when do you think you’d be getting out of bed in the morning to start your day?

What kind of out of bed time could you commit to and what kind of out of bed time would help you do the things you want to do, live the life you want to live, and be the person you want to be?
