      I’ve struggled with sleep for 20 years, I always managed it by trying another herb or medication. Eventually these sleep aids always stop working for me. Currently I am hooked on another medication which I want to be off of…it occasionally works, I can’t count on it working every night. My biggest fear right now is my health issues getting worse while I work on my sleep window (which I assume will be rough at first and won’t get much sleep). I currently have hyperthyroidism and my thoughts have always been, if I can’t sleep I can’t heal. My other issues from Lyme disease have gotten worse since my sleep cycle has gotten so bad in the past two months especially (neuropathy in my feet is worse and nerve issues in my face have increased). As you can see, my anxiety mostly rests on my health getting worse as I am about to start implementing CBTI and going off my sleep meds. I’d love to hear other peoples success stories in health related issues. My husband found Martin’s podcast while researching insomnia for me. I’m so thankful I found a promising therapy, even though I’m anxious to try it.

        If it occasionally works, I wonder whether it works at all? After all, a broken clock still occasionally works (twice a day), right?

        Your fears and worries are completely valid, understandable, and normal. What I can tell you is that there’s no evidence chronic insomnia causes any health problem whatsoever. What I can also tell you is that anxiety doesn’t stop sleep from happening — but struggling with it, trying to fight or avoid it, sure can make things a lot more difficult (it sounds as though you’ve learned that from experience).
