Over the Easter period of 2021 while away on vacation I contracted shingles at the back of my right eye, resulting in the death of the nerves.
I had a severe hiking accident. My neck was broken & my thoracic spine suffered compression fractures.
I spent 19 June to 1 September 2021in hospital – 8 weeks in ICU & the rest in a surgical ward & step down facility. Followed by 8 weeks of home care & then physiotherapy. I am fully recovered win no pain, full bodily functions & flexibility. Because I was on so many medications for such prolonged period of time, the detoxification process after stopping the medication has led to exacerbation of the insomnia that I had developed during menopause.

        Zenobia:
Continuation of my insomnia battle story:
We celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary with a family gathering on 3 March 2022. On 6 March my now ex-husband announced that he no longer wanted to be married. He liked being alone while I was injured & during the process of my recovery (he did no actively participate in my recovery programs). As a result the shock hospitalised me for 3 days. More medication!
I was admitted to a psychiatric facility for DBT & spent 29 days there.
On 8 May 2022 I was served with a divorce decree. I have only just reached the point of acceptance of my new reality. This has however had a negative impact on my insomnia
