Sleeping pill vs. Benzo

      Which one works better for you?

      I’ve tried , on my own (not prescribed by doctor) 3 sleeping pills on 3 different occassions, but the results weren’t satisfactory. The pills made me sort of relaxed, but the effect weaned off and the pills didn’t really do much. The next day, however, I felt terrible, I couldn’t focus on anything and my mind was fuzzy, as if, well, drugged up.

      The benzos, however, leave no effect on me the next day, which I find great. Too bad they are getting less effective (which is normal after 2 years), so much so that I found myself taking a little Valium and a little beer/rum in order to knock myself out more than once, which I know is the worst idea possible.

      Yesterday I’ve decided firmly, yet again, to try to go back to my natural sleep, no matter what. I took all my benzos to a different location so that I don’t get tempted to take them again.

      I woke up at 4 again, even though it’s Sunday. 🙁

      I can already tell that I will be taking my benzos back. I’m just so sad. My wife is sleeping in the next room, as she very well should be, and I’ve been up for 4 hours already.

      But, back to my original question – anyone else here on whom benzos work better for sleep than z-drugs? Why do you think that is so? I’m more and more inclined to think that I have sleep anxiety, not insomnia per se. If I had insomnia, z-pills would work better.
