I’ve had sleep issues on & off most of my adult life (I’m almost 68), but the insomnia this time is the worst I’ve ever encountered. I’m seeing a sleep specialist & did a sleep study, but I don’t have much contact with him to help me get through this. I have generalized anxiety disorder as well as numerous pain issues which have made things so much worse. Pain caused the insomnia to get out of control after injuring my IT Band in my leg the end of October 2020. Initially I took Klonopin at night to help me sleep, but eventually that stopped working. I then got sleeping pills (Temazepam) from a doctor which also eventually stopped working. By choice I’ve been doing a sleep diary for six weeks with my sleep doctor’s knowledge, but now I realize that’s a mistake due to looking at the clock & have stopped it as of yesterday. I’m still taking a very low dose of the sleeping pill at bedtime; my doctor said due to my anxiety disorder, he wants me to keep taking it & will help me wean off it when I get my sleep back on track. I’m averaging 3-4 hours a night of sleep. I discovered the Insomnia Coach on You Tube after watching a podcast. I really need someone who I can talk to more frequently than the sleep doctor I go to; my next appointment with him is a month away!

        Greetings!
With regards to sleep, nothing will happen to you even if your appointment is a year away! So stop dramatizing this and making it so serious. Because it just isn’t and your brain is overdramatizing stuffs that is completely false and made-up. There is no danger. Never was. Challenge yourself to stay awake the longest you can! Even if you want to stay up for days at a time, your body simply won’t allow it and will make you sleep at some point. Over time you begin to realise this whole thing has been a hoax and a goose chase over nothing. Good luck!
