My whole family & I had Covid and Thank God he protected us from most of the bad symptoms. However, during that time I was hyper vigilant in obtaining vitamins and nutraceuticals prior to and during our ordeal. I felt quite stressed even after everyone was ok and then developed tinnitus several weeks thereafter. This tinnitus brought upon anxiety and now insomnia for the past 2 weeks. How can start the healing process ?

        Hi fellow Tinnitus sufferer.

It has been 20 years I went though Tinnitus related anxiety.
What turned it around was learning online about the Tinnitus Retraining Therapy from Jastreboff. To me CBT-I looks like it has a similar approach by giving you the confidence that Tinnitus is not a bodily injury per se but
everybody has Tinnitus if locked into an isolated chamber
your brain filter that usually filters out the Tinnitus sound everybody has naturally, is now misaligned
anxiety heightens the intensity of your Tinnitus.
You break the cycle by avoiding total silence and using white noise to mask a degree of the Tinnitus sound at night, not block the Tinnitus sound. This will habituate you over time and your brain will less and less make you hear it.,

I think a lot of people are experiencing sleep disruption at the current time, with everything going on related to COVID-19. I am glad to hear you have recovered.

It’s not unusual for sleep to be disrupted at times of stress or worry because sleep is sensitive to our overall level of well-being. If sleep doesn’t recover once the initial stressor is no longer an issue, it’s often because the way we think about sleep has changed, and because we have implemented behaviors in a bid to improve our sleep that actually backfire and perpetuate sleep disruption.

I am not the person to speak to about tinnitus, but when it comes to the short-term insomnia you are experiencing you might simply need to ensure you are allotting an appropriate amount of time for sleep based on your average nightly sleep duration to help reduce nighttime wakefulness.

          I hope this helps!
