Two years ago, during the period when I was taking the medication Esmya, used to treat uterine fibroids, I contracted the flu, which turned into bronchitis. I had a very high temperature for 7 days and nights. I lay constantly in bed, feeling exhausted. I became very anxious (which is one of the many side effects of Esmya: emotional disorder, anxiety, insomnia, hyperactivity, …) and could not sleep anymore. I didn’t sleep at all for 11 days and nights. During those days, I went to the doctor several times and received medication, but none of those medications led to sleep. On the 12th day, I went to the hospital and received an infusion, and only then did I manage to fall asleep. After that I switched from night to day, I can barely sleep around 6-7 A.M. I want to sleep at night again without any problems with falling asleep. And without fear about it. Thanks for any advice that is more than welcome.

It sounds as though you’re able to trace back your sleep disruption to an obvious initial trigger — but it sounds as though that is no longer an issue. This suggests that the way you think about sleep and/or your sleep-related behaviors are now different compared to when you were sleeping well — and that’s usually what ends up perpetuating sleep disruption.

At the current time, when do you usually go to bed, when do you get out of bed to start your day, and how many hours of sleep do you usually get on an “average” night?
