Sometimes it can be helpful to consider all the ways we might be training the brain that wakefulness is a threat and explore how we might move away from those actions.
Common actions that might train the brain that wakefulness is a threat include:
* Trying to make sleep happen/trying to avoid wakefulness (efforts, rituals, ongoing experiments, supplements/gadgets/gizmos/lotions/potions)
* Trying to fight or avoid difficult thoughts and feelings that might choose to show up when we are awake
* Withdrawing from life, acting in ways that aren’t aligned with our values, and moving away from doing things that matter after difficult nights
I hope there’s something useful here!
