      I have just completed the course and I am so glad that I enrolled. I enrolled in this course because Martin could relate to insomnia more than someone who has never experienced it so I trusted his expert advice and coaching and that, to me, made a big difference. I have struggled with insomnia most of my life. Tried a pyschologist, family doctor and given sleep and anxiety medication. This helped for a while but sooner or later, I would relapse and I was never rid of the fear of not sleeping. It was always haunting me in the back of my mind. . There is so much disinformation out there about sleep. Before the course, I was hard on myself, blaming myself for not being able to get a grip, for not being able to control my thoughts and feelings. Martin’s coaching on how not to blame ourselves for the way we think and feel, to love ourselves, resonated with me. Learning and understanding how sleep works , that we don’t necessarily need 7-8 hours of sleep to function. By accepting this and being able to get through my day with very little sleep took away the pressure I would put on myself to have a good night’s sleep. Slowly and slowly, I started to feel less anxious about sleep and now I am able to fall asleep with no worries and get the amount of sleep I need to feel good. Will this last forever? No one knows, but I know that I have the tools and the knowledge to deal with it as best I can.

        Thank you so much for sharing, Rosa! It sounds as though you have found it particularly helpful to be kinder to yourself and to put less pressure on yourself to make a certain amount or type of sleep happen.

        As you pointed out, you now have tools and skills that will be with you forever — so you always know how you can respond to difficult nights and the difficult thoughts and feelings that can come with (and after!) them in a workable way any time in the future 🙂
