      The inverse journey across insomnia…. What usually should not be the path, but unfortunately seems to be the most frequently taken.
      You start realizing you’ve started having problems with sleeping, so you either start using melatonin as a Friend or colleague tells you, or you consult a physician… Who prescribes you a z- drug, as ‘having very low potential for dependence compared with benzodiazepines’ seems to be THE SOLUTION. And it works…. So when you run out of it, you consult again and get the prescription repeated…. Month after month…. Until finally you can no longer get the all night sleep… But shorter and shorter… And other symptoms start to appear than you seem to not understand… Headache, drowsiness, anxiety, depression, digestive symptoms…even some night you take a second pill even if directed only to take only one…and you can no longer fall asleep when you try to get your usual daily nap.
      So you look into the prescribing information on the drug…. Where it states TO BE PRESCRIBED FOR SHORT PERIODS, NO LONGER THAN 4 WEEKS. And when you start searching why, you find the response: most of the new symptoms you are experiencing are determined by the ‘reset of nerotransmitters in your brain preparing for the daily dose of the z drug being administered for longer than 4 weeks’…
      And here I am now, tappering the infamous zolpidem to getting it from my system and readapting my neurotransmitters to normal levels….. with an even worse insomnia that got me here….
      And that moment is when you start searching and find the correct path that should have been be taken…. But unfortunately experiencing the disgusting experience of symptoms of chronic usage of z drugs and then of withdrawal even if tappering them slowly, that are very similar because they are determined by your brain being adapted to the daily dose of the INFAMOUS PILL.

        It sounds as though you’d have much rather not started with supplements and medication and that you feel that was not the correct path for you, in hindsight.

        I would encourage you to be kind to yourself when you consider your experience. You did what you felt was right for you at the time. You acted on the advice and suggestions you received at the time. And, no matter what, you learned something valuable from the experience.
