I went through the worse bout of sleep I’ve ever had before I started the method . Everyone said different things when researching what I could do. My world felt it was coming apart.
I teach am physically active . Train and teach martial arts. But how was I supposed to do this without proper rest sleep? Then Asides that working an office job.
It was literal hell. Always being tired. Then the endless night’s of the same thing. I was loosing my mind. Fear would creep in around 3 hours before I’d go through the usual failings.
I saw a phycologist who told me flat out , you’ll need drugs for that. There is no cure. Then I saw I video on YouTube while one night not being able to Sleep.
It was the first time I heard someone reassuring. Martin. Most people where like you need 8 hour’s you’ll get sick if you don’t . Make you more scared then anything. Martin seemed like he had a plan. It seemed logical.
So I took the free course and was amazed . He had answers..Was very helpful. The first two weeks where pretty rough . People think sleep deprived methods is that when actually you are limiting time tossing and turning .
I signed up for the course. I learned so much about sleep. It was easy to follow and I just did what I was told to do.
I can say I’m now sleeping better than I’ve ever had. No drugs . Nothing radical.
Have faith in what he’s telling you .
It works..Thank you Martin.
August 19, 2020 at 12:12 am #37433Thankyou for sharing Ralph. I’m just starting out and about to go into my third night. Reading stories such as yours is so damn helpful. After years of wondering how i would ever get out of this hell I feel I’ve finally found something that seems like it will actually work. I know i’ll be writing my success story on here one day soon. Thankyou again.
August 19, 2020 at 11:41 am #37443Hi there! How long until you noticed the course improved your sleep?
August 19, 2020 at 11:56 am #37445You’re welcome Susie. Just know you will get better. Part of the problem is worrying about if you will sleep. Trust me you will if you can control and dial down the arousal system as Martin says.
Hi Natalie. I noticed with in a few days. I was lucky . But I trusted what Martin was saying because it all made sense to me. Don’t rush it it will come.
The biggest improvement came* when I let sleep drive build* and stopped taking naps.
Also using the bed as he instructs. Sleep and sex. Etc.
August 19, 2020 at 12:02 pm #37446I had a difficult time letting sleep drive build cause like say by 6 pm I felt like crashing I was so tired all the time. The delima. Should I nap now only to be wide awake in the middle of the night and feel like I didn’t sleep at all?
Sleep drive build up will win 9 out of 10 time’s. Maybe more.
August 29, 2020 at 10:58 am #37550I am new to the forum, but when I have tried this technique in the past, my biggest challenge has been in keeping myself occupied when I stay out of bed, because there is only that much reading one can do.
August 29, 2020 at 5:18 pm #37552hi Natalie, Ive been doing the program (diligently!) for fourteen nights. And its working really well. The first 4 nights were horrendous, getting out of bed when i couldnt go back to sleep was so hard becasue its the middle of winter and i was so tired even though i couldnt sleep. But i was so tired by the fifth night I slept for 5 hours…. without medication!! Rarely have i ever done that even with medication. I know i’m only 2 weeks in but i can see this program works and i feel like i’ve discovered something that i can use for the rest of my life if i need to. Havent thrown the sleep meds away yet but i havent taken any since i began and i’m getting close to tipping them down thet toilet. Thankyou Martin!!
August 31, 2020 at 11:05 am #37551hey mini, i’ve set up a whole bunch of things for me to do besides reading. I have 2 diffferent jigsaws on the go. I find these are great becasue they’re so soothing to do and i dont have to think about them like you do when you’re reading a book. Also have a sudoku book which is also kind of thoughtless occupation. But one of my favourite things to do is use my journal. I use gel pens and i just draw line after line, all freehand, until i’ve filled the page. I do both horizontal and vertical lines. I like using journals with black pages and mostly white gel pens. I write the date and time and i usually add a couple of stick figures or a few words around the edge, maybe a thought i’m having or a phrase…. eg,’awake again….this too will pass
I call these my meditation lines…. again, so soothing to do.
I’ve been doing program for 2 weeks and no longer need to get up during the night. biggest problem is staying awake until bedtime. Cant believe the program is working so well…. no more sleeping pills!! Ive had anxiety driven insomnia since i was a child….
All the best, it looks like this really works if you stick to the program.September 11, 2020 at 6:12 pm #37702Hello Ralph and thanks for sharing your transformation with everyone and for starting a discussion that has attracted so many positive, motivating, and reassuring contributions from other members!
You described the lows of insomnia in a way that I am sure many people will identify with and that’s great because if others can identify with what you went through and see where you are now, it means they can get to where you are now, too!
You got results from the coaching because you implemented what you learned! You took steps to build sleep drive, strengthen your body clock, and lower arousal. As a result, you started to sleep better — and your results are entirely down to you, your efforts, and your natural ability to sleep!
