I love tattoos. I have so many I want. One day, oh yes, they will be mine. I have five now.

In the first pic, all three were done separately over several years time, eve though the ones on the right look like they were done together. I just loved the way they seemed to match. The Egyptian ones are because I've been fascinated with ancient Egypt for over half my life, and even though I am not religious, the symbols mean a great deal to me. The celtic triangle under the eye is partially to show my own heritage, and to show how I love to fuse all cultures together.

The second one, the butterfly, is deeply meaningful to me. Since I was about 15 my sister has been nicking my comics, and one of them was Sandman, by Neil Gaiman. She's been calling me Delirium since then. When she was 19, about ten years ago, she was horrifically injured when an SUV hit her (she was walking). Her recovery was very long (she's still needing ops, and she will always be disabled), and it fell to me and mum to take care of her through a lot of that. In the comics, one of Delirium's symbols is a butterfly. To show her gratitude, she wanted to buy me a tattoo, so this is the one I designed.

The Batman one is really a bit of frivolity on my part, for my 30th birthday a few years back. I'm a comics geek, one who can retell you all the long complicated plotlines of my favourite ones, going back years (Phoenix Saga? Pish. Got that stuff down). Batman has always been my favourite. He always will be. I plan on my next one being the Superman logo on the other side, as he is my second favourite. DC ftw.

Anyway. Rambly post is rambly, but here are pictures for your trouble.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister, and I love the butterfly. What a unique design!

          That butterfly is pure awesome!

I want to have a tattoo still, but have no idea what to have..and considering the factor that it's permanent, I'm not going to get one until I'm totally sure what to have.

I'm a massive Batman fan too! Phoenix saga, seriously? Are you actually Prof Brian Cox with a psuedonym? 😀

As for comics/ graphic novels my bf is the Neil Gaiman fan whereas I'm more of an Alan Moore buff although recently I have been pinching his Lucifer graphic novels – so far he hasn't noticed.

Love, love, LOVE the Batman tat and the long sleeve T you're wearing in the pic – I have the same top 😀

I have never been one for tattoo's personally, I do like some on some people but I've never been a huge fan…however, I dont know why but I have recently decided to get one done myself nothing elaborate and only a small one on my wrist..it s the Chinese symbol meaning 'To Listen' and I know it will sound strange, but I feel as if it's very appropriate for my life at the moment…ayway I am thinking of having it done for my birthday which is soon…

              Here it is…

LOL You have to be either a dedicated fan or have a PhD to understand the Phoenix Saga. 😀 I was a fan of the Sandman comics, but that's about all I've ever liked of Gaiman. I do, however, worship Alan Moore, Chris Claremont, and Fabian Niceza. Well, and more, but that's a very long list.
