For the last week, I had the following experience.
I wake up, I feel fine for about thirty minutes.
But then there happens something in my brain.
It feels like the onset of something.
It feels like there is a metabolistic change in my brain and dirt is heaping up, causing a sort of burning feeling in my brain and in my body.
I have been feeling tired last week. I have troubles concentrating, memory problems, reading sentences and keeping my attention listening to more complex sentences. Also some sense of depression.
I am a 28 years old male. I have been diagnosed ASD and bipolar type II some months ago.
I had chronic sleep problems before this, but not something like this consistent for a week.
I have had bad days very frequently, but I could sleep them off the next day, because of the sleeping pressure.

Doing a diagnosis over the internet is not done, but does anything like this sound familiar?
I have a psychiatric family history: my mother has paranoid schizophrenia and she seems to react to everything after some count (which I am not sure is in the range of symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia, but could be a first sign of something else, perhaps Alzheimer’s disease).
I have done sleep restriction before, from 8 hours to something like 7 hours and a quarter. However, this doesn’t seem like a good idea.
I have done an EEG checkup before (before I was diagnosed), in the context of sleep problems, but nothing did show up there. My neurologist said the cause is likely to be psychological or psychiatric.

The best source of advice for your situation would be from a medical professional — the recommended treatment for chronic insomnia is usually cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) but there are contraindications for individuals with the mental diagnoses you’ve described.

If you are ready to stop struggling with insomnia you can enroll in the online insomnia coaching course right now! If you would prefer ongoing phone or video coaching calls as part of a powerful three month program that will help you reclaim your life from insomnia, consider applying for the Insomnia Mastery program.
