I had someone suggest to me that studies are showing a link between low vitamin D levels and insomnia. I know that my level is low but haven’t been consistent with taking a supplement. I began taking 3000 I.U. a day. After about 3 days my depression went away and I am sleeping much better. Many people, especially people over 50, are deficient in Vitamin D. I used to work in a lab that did vitamin D levels, and I can attest that this is true. I thought that maybe there are insomniacs out there that might benefit from this information.

Glad to hear you are doing better after taking Vitamin D supplements. It’s worth bearing in mind that, since Vitamin D deficiency isn’t a perpetuating factor for chronic insomnia, most people with chronic insomnia won’t notice a significant improvement in their sleep if they take a Vitamin D supplement.
