For those of you only getting an hour or a night ( and I’ve certainly been there, and worse over the years, almost driven me mad) this may seem enviable to wake at 4 or earlier. But night’s are broken and these early starts make me feel ill and headachy and it’s hard to be productive. So will often resort to the medicine cabinet, which seems a strange time to take something but works a treat for me. But now resorting to this too often and need to get to a mindset of acceptance. Am new to this forum so hope it will help my attitude.

Welcome to the forum! What time do you usually go to bed at night and what time do you usually get out of bed in the morning to start your day? On an average night, how many hours of sleep would you say you’ve been getting over the past couple of weeks?

Ironically, sometimes having medication available can make sleep more difficult since when we are awake we might start engaging in “mental gymnastics” as we try to decide if/when to reach for the medicine cabinet. Sometimes it can be more helpful to stick to a specific medication routine rather than use it contingently — however, this should always be discussed with your doctor.

          This resonates..yes the inner argument.
Usually go to bed about 10 or a bit earlier. Without the med I’m probably getting about 6 or less hours a night. Usually up about 6.30 ish with the med. You’d probably say go to bed later for the sleep restriction?
          Thank you

That might be worth an experiment for a week or two! After all, if we consider that you might average six hours of sleep while allotting about eight-and-a-half hours for sleep, you are basically setting yourself up for up to two-and-a-half hours of wakefulness.
