Hello all, about 4 months ago I just randomly started waking up several times a night. This has been happening almost every night since and have no idea what’s causing it, I’ve actually had insomnia before but was sleep onset and managed to get past it but I’ve never experienced this before. Is this me simply being more aware of the brief awakenings that happen at night? Any insights appreciated.

It could very well be an increased level of awareness since, after all, waking during the night is a normal part of sleep. If you are concerned about these awakenings, I would suggest speaking with your doctor to ensure there’s no medical explanation for those awakenings (for example, sleep apnea).

I hope this helps and I wish you all the best!

Hey Martin, thanks for the reply. The awakenings did improve over last week though I did keep waking up and hour or so before my alarms went off. I seem to have hit a speed bump this week and I’m back to waking up a lot of times again but at least I know it can get better, I really think it was my brain just being more aware of the awakenings that happen naturally at night so I’m remembering them.

Any update? I’m in a similar situation.
