My wife and I love cats, and not having any for the past couple of years has been quite upsetting (our lease didn’t allow them when we lived in New York City).
Now we’re out in Oregon and have a lovely little house that is pet-friendly, so we went down to the animal shelter and rescued two 7 month old tabby cats.
I’ve attached some pictures below. Their names are boggle (the darker boy) and coco (the lighter girl). They are crazy, but a LOT of fun!

January 1, 2011 at 3:34 am #11884Good for you, Martin! I'm a cat guy…I love them, always have. We have one, Emmy, and I'd like two or three more. But the wife says no.
January 3, 2011 at 7:59 pm #11885You'll have to post a picture of your cat, Mike! I'm a cat man too – would love to see your furball!

January 9, 2011 at 1:25 pm #11886Such beautiful patterning on their coats. What wonderful cats!!! I'm a cat person too, although earlier in life I was definitely more of a dog person. Now, I'm the complete opposite. I take care of about 7-8 outdoor cats (hate the word “feral”) in which I feed them and have been able to pet them and socialize with them a bit each day. I'm thinking of possibly adopting one of them, but am a bit reluctant.
January 9, 2011 at 7:36 pm #11887That's really good of you, Matt. When we lived in Brooklyn there was a huge 'feral' cat colony just down the street. The community arranged to put some cat boxes on the side of the street and people would live cat food for them. Someone regularly changed the straw in their boxes. It was quite sweet.
We've always had 'rescue' cats – most of the cats we had when I was growing up were rescued strays. I undertand your reluctance – maybe sometime in the future you'll decide the time is right to try adopting one of them. In the meantime, you're still doing a great thing.

January 11, 2011 at 7:51 am #11888Your cats are adorable Martin. Good on you for rescuing them. I have two dogs I rescued from the shelter where I also volunteer one day a week.
I know you won't want to hear this Matt, but the best thing you could do for any of these cats is get them to a vet who'll do you a good deal on desexing. The better they're looked after the more they'll reproduce. It's a never ending cycle.
My mutts are Chloe & Zuri.
January 11, 2011 at 10:39 pm #11889Your dogs are beautiful Dozydame! My mum has a brown border collie – they're an adorable breed. It looks like Zuri (or the dog on the right) has some border collie in him.
Good point on those strays getting 'fixed' – it's an endless cycle, otherwise. I know that in Brooklyn they were trying their best to neuter/spay all the strays.

January 11, 2011 at 11:45 pm #11890Thanks Martin. Chloe is the border collie cross blue cattle dog. They are both girls. Zuri (means beautiful in swahili) is a real mixture, but I think there's some poodle in her. Yes they are great dogs and going stir crazy from being inside to keep out of the rain.
May 4, 2011 at 1:12 pm #11891Awww just found this thread.
I have a few pets we have a Beared Collie called Murphy two rabbits called Charlie and Lola after the cartoon several fish and I have just contacted the Cats protection league about a cat. we had to re home our cat when we moved to Germany as she was too old and the vet wouldnt let us take her he said that it would be too much for her. It broke my heart. We are here to stay now so I have agree to get a cat not a kitten as cute as they are I would rather have a fully grown unable to have babies cat 🙂

All our pets apart from the rabbits have been rescue animals and I will put pictures up of my daft dog and insane rabbits and our new cat when we get one 🙂
May 5, 2011 at 2:58 pm #11894Lovely cats Martin!
I grew up with animals all around me, ranging from the “normal” cats dog and birds, to things like lizards, quails, stick insects and much more…I find all animals facinating, and although I love dogs and used to be a dog trainer and handler for a security company, I love cats and lizards more!!
