      My long standing pattern has been daily wee hour wake-ups.  Recently, I’ve been using meditation and cbd oil to help bring on a sleepy state during the wake-up. . I do keep an rx of Xanax and take a low dose when I’m getting angry/panicky  for not being able to get back to sleep.  Sometimes it works well, and other times not so much.  I’ve signed up for an 8 week mindfulness-based stress reduction class, hoping that the practice will lead to living more in the moment and reduce the sleep anxiety I experience.

          It’s what I’ve come to expect.  I’ve been waking up in the wee hours for years, worrying about work.  I’ve been retired for some time, but the “habit” is still there.  Some nights it doesn’t bother me as I listen to relaxing , meditative music or read a bit until I’m sleepy.  Other nights, I feel the the anxiety or pressure from “why is this happening again ?, I want to get back to sleep now ” !  As an fyi, I did take the Shuti CBT-I course in the first quarter of  2018.  It did help and gave me insight and help on sleep hygiene, sleep restriction and sleep schedules.

            What do you currently do when you wake during the night? Did the Shuti course give you techniques to use for these nighttime awakenings? Are you still practicing them?
