Although I am not presuming in any way, just reflecting on my own personal experience…suffering with this accursed affliction of getting little to no sleep has profound effects on my (our), moods and state of mind, namely, depressive, black and generally f**k off world days….
During these moments when I shun the rest of the world, well the real world at least…and turn my thoughts inwards, I do have a habit or reverting to eating my favourite comfort foods in a vain attempt that they will have some miraculous effect and lift me out of the pit I find myself residing in…I have never really thought about how successful it has been and maybe that is a topic for a future post…this one is however about what is your comfort foods….
Do you have one….if so what is it…can you buy it, or do you have to follow a complex recipe to make it… 😛
I have a few depending on resources, time and availability…
Chocolate, well this one had to be there, it can take many forms, except white…eewwwww, chocolate is not supposed to be white….how wrong is that…
Cheese on Toast, this is a big favourite lovely with a big mug of tea…
Yum Yum's…have to be honest here and say I'm sure it's the massive sugar content here that gives me such a high… 😆
A pot of Blue Mountain Coffee….my favourite coffee in the world, a special treat, drunk with some homemade shortbread bikkies….heaven..
Cheese & Potato pie with tinned tomatoes….with fresh bread & butter….mmmmmmmm (me thinks this is on the agenda for today…. 😛 )
So does anyone else have any uplifting mood food favourites…

May 4, 2010 at 2:47 pm #10949I don't have a huge sweet tooth, but I love 'chewy sweets' (think Haribo). For some reason, the chewy sweets here in the US aren't anything like what we get in the UK so I've managed to wean myself off.
Comfort food to me is more to do with cooked meals. I loved a homemade lasagna. I love shepherd's pie. I love meat pies. Now that's your comfort food!
I'm with you when it comes to melted cheese on toast, Hedwig. Not much that can be made in around 5 minutes beats that!

Me too! 😀
I have a massive sweet tooth but when it comes to comfort food, it's all about the cheese. My ultimate comfort food is pasta and peas with grated mature cheddar cheese melted in.
Oh that's done it. The day I've had, I'm going to have to cook some up now!
May 10, 2010 at 11:25 pm #10951Me personally, chewy candy is a personal fave (ask the Skittle fairy!) but the ultimate comfort food for me has to be anything with cheese in it!
OH yeah, and it has to be washed down with Mountain Dew.

May 18, 2010 at 9:48 am #10954lots an lots of peanut M&Ms
have also been craving frothy vanilla chai lattes
and yum, right now would kill for a slice of pizza with anchovies
May 18, 2010 at 6:58 pm #10955When I leave New York I am really going to miss our local pizza place. They do an awesome spicy chicken and avocado pizza. One slice must weigh about the same as a normal whole pizza. It's an entire meal and completely delicious.

Sounds Yum, ditching the anchovies and craving the chicken and avocado
May 19, 2010 at 2:23 am #10957I'm lucky that I get my comfort food every Friday 😀 Mum makes pizza from scratch, which she started doing again about six months ago. She did it every week when we were growing up, well into my mid teens. There isn't anything at all better. Not even coffee. And you won't hear me say that about anything else.
November 8, 2012 at 4:25 pm #10958Well, I have a major sweet tooth as well, probably why I was fat the first 17years of my life haha, but my most 3 favorite desserts are cheesecake, brownies, and cotton candy haha, and comfort foood for me is when my nanay (mom) makes filipino food, my favorite being adobo and tosino, if I go to the sari-sari, which means 'variety' in the tagalog language, I'll get filipino ice cream, flavors most people might not have tried would be ube, which is purple yam, and cheese flavored ice cream, its sooo good, haha everyone looks at me weird when I tell them I eat cheese ice cream haha, I pretty much eat rice with everything, usually steamed jasmine rice, and eating dried squid or dry-fish, which is usually little anchovies that are dried, I eat them like chips but u can eat it with rice haha
November 12, 2012 at 8:06 am #10959Chips! Drowning in salt, vinegar & brown sauce!
