So, hallo to all of you. I'm Caers, I currently live in the north of England, and I've suffered from chronic insomnia for, well, most of my life. My parents have horrour stories about my non-sleeping schedule throughout my childhood. Things are a little better now, but I still don't sleep much, or well.
I have two kids, and they are my darlings. They are also just as independent as I am so that makes for an interesting household. My son has higher functioning autism, which is sometimes very difficult to deal with when I haven't had enough sleep. The greatest thing about my children, though, is that they bring me coffee in bed on the weekends. Usually without me threatening to take away their computre. 😀
Ummmm….I've held a lot of jobs in my life, including network security, graphics design, web programming (when it was still mostly just html and java…does that date me?), and I've been playing video games since the first Atari came out. I'm a huge fan of social networking online, but I have OCD and chronic anxiety, so I don't leave the house much if at all possible, these days.
I guess that will do for now 🙂 Looking forward to reading the many posts.

May 13, 2010 at 3:00 pm #11140Welcome Caers. We sound like we have stuff in common from the mundane (the variety and number of jobs held, social networking, video games) to more “serious” things like I have multiple anxiety disorders so I try to leave the house as little as possible, but since I must out of necessity, I always try to plan for the times when places are the least crowded.
Hope to see you around the community.

May 13, 2010 at 9:56 pm #11144Hi Caers!
Nice to see another poster from my timezone 😀
I can relate to having held down a lot of jobs and in my case being fired or paid to leave them.
Hope to get to know you better on the forum 🙂
May 13, 2010 at 11:47 pm #11145Thanks everyone 🙂
Martin, I don't remember how I found you. But I did sign up for your emails and such before you opened the site, so I suppose someone had to have mentioned it. I honestly have a hard time remembering things if I don't write them down. But wait patiently I did, and I'm glad I did.
seenafterscene, wow, we do have a lot of things in common 🙂 Even on medication I have …a difficult time leaving the house and rarely do by myself. My kids are pretty good to drag along because they distract me. Sometimes on purpose. I just prefer to stay in though. IDK. My computer is my friend? Or is it, all my friends live in my computer? 😀
Kik, WOOHOO! England ftw! I love it here, even with the Tories in charge 😉 I've moved a lot in my life, and then I stopped working to stay at home with my kids, and then due to lack of sleep and several other issues I had a stress breakdown a few years ago that I still haven't really gotten over so I'm not really allowed to work at the moment. I could, but I'm strongly advised not to. 🙁 I miss working. I like it. But I'm doing OU now, so at least I'm occupied.
May 14, 2010 at 3:18 am #11146I leave for 10 minutes and get way laid everywhere I go. Sheesh. 😉 Welcome, Caers! Glad to see fresh blood – I mean, new faces to get to know!
May 14, 2010 at 5:57 am #11147Caers–Def! Distractions are my salvation, though I oddly will have days where I'm perfectly fine, distractions are what allow me to at least do the basic stuff. I don't have kids, but I do have headphones. 🙂
