      Hello everyone,

This is my first post, here goes..

I’ve had trouble sleeping since around the age of 12. 13 years later, it hasn’t really improved much. At the moment, I’ll be lucky if I get any more than 2 hours sleep. And everytime I do manage to get a “decent” nights sleep, it’s always broken. It’s not even like I suffer with anxiety and depression, I cant link my sleeping troubles to any particular personal issue, or a stressful job, or anything like that. Most days I dont drink caffeine after 2pm. When I am in bed, feeling as though I’m ready to drift off, it’s like a surge of electricity jolts me back to being awake. I’m seriously at the end of my tether now, so much so, that I’m starting to dread bedtime, knowing that il be doing my usual tossing and turning, then feeling like a zombie at work the next day.

I thought I’d turn to a forum of some sort, as i dont have anyone in my life that can empathise with my struggles, as they all have no problems when it comes to sleep. Anyways, thanks for reading my post guys, and I look forward to reading your posts and hopefully getting some tips on how to actually get a good nights sleep!

      Many thanks,

      Emma

        Hey Emma!

Welcome and sorry to hear about your sleep struggles.

Can you provide some greater insight into your current sleep pattern – what time do you go to bed and what time do you get out of bed to start your day? Describe what you mean by those nights of decent sleep are always “broken”?

I’d encourage you to view Martin’s video on bedtime jerks as he explains in detail why they occur and how to address them – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFlxiXbYQag&t=184s

        Hope this helps!
