      Hi!

There’s one thing that’s been stuck in my mind for a while…
Obviously, brain functions will be afrected due sleep deprivation. But will our brains be able to perform decently until the moment sleep wins (cope with our basic duties)? Or can it reach a point where it’s unable to do basic thinking, to make our body moves…

I’m scared of reaching a point where I can no longer cope with my day job because I’m at this point of inability; inability to think nor to push myself to move my body. That that tiredness would really kept me away from basic functions…

Any research or thoughts on this topic? What’s the lowest point of the brain before going off to sleep?

Great questions and completely legitimate and valid concerns there!

First, it can be helpful to recognize that sleep deprivation is not the same as chronic insomnia.

Secondly there’s no evidence that chronic insomnia causes any health problem — but it can certainly make living the kind of life we want to live a lot more difficult!

Sleep always happens in the end — it’s impossible to stay awake indefinitely. And, the body will always generate — at the very least — the minimum amount of sleep it needs as long as it is given the opportunity to do so.

This stuff is difficult, no doubt about it. I hope there’s something useful here.
