Would like to see how folks manage withdrawal symptoms starting Cbti, especially irritability, headaches, food binges, obsessing about # number of minutes before bed,

Welcome to the forum, Doglover! Tell me more about your sleep. Are you currently going through a course of CBT-I?

The symptoms you have listed sound more like the symptoms associated with long-term, chronic insomnia rather than CBT-I!

CBT-I usually reduces irritability associated with sleep deprivation and is specifically designed to reduce any obsession with sleep (such as worrying about the number of minutes before bed as bedtime approaches).

Started Shuti but  too many computer glitches causing an inordinately severe sleep window, which led to initial question.  Now back to Tracking thru CBTi & lengthened sleep window, reducing symptom severity.  Original problem of interrupted sleep improving except on pretravel nights and nights prior to eventfilled workdays.  However now getting fewer hours of sleep per night due to early awakening, averaged 1.29 hours this week.

It’s actually quite common for sleep to get worse for the first couple of weeks during a CBT-I program as you learn (and adjust) to new techniques and try to change what can be deeply-rooted habits and behaviors. The key is to stick with it, and keep in communication with your CBT-I practitioner or sleep coach!
