I know I need more sleep
when halfway to work I realize my daughter is still in the car and not dropped of at school. (Was about an hour late at work that time)
when I try to microwave my soup in the fridge or put the mixer in the oven.
when I'm suddenly at work and don't really remember how I got there.
when I eat my cereal with cola instead of milk (that was really yuk)
I'm sure there will be more, when I'm not to tired to think of more.

Some good ones there… looking back it's quite funny what we do when sleep deprived!
I've poured hot kettle water on cereal before, instead of milk!

I agree.
Another one just popped in my head.
One day I was when I was driving to work, it took me about 20min.to realize is was driving the wrong way.
I drove to where I used to work about 2 years ago so not to my current workplace.
Of course this is totally the opposite direction then where I should have been going.
Luckily I have flexible hours.
January 25, 2011 at 12:12 am #11442I know I need more sleep when I can't find my keys or phone. Then search the house frantically and then find them in my jacket pocket…that I am wearing!

That happens all the time to me, regardless of whether I get enough sleep or not!

January 26, 2011 at 5:43 am #11444you feel illiterate because when you try to read the words are blurry
you wash your hair twice
you feel like you have been laying in bed so much there must be an imprint of your body in bed…but you are still tired
you are so out of it you forget where you were driving and have to pull into random parking lots trying to remember where you were going
you forget what you are talking about mid sentence
you think your turn signal is broken because you have been pushing the windshild wiper control and didn't even notice the windshield wipers going on and off in front of your face
January 26, 2011 at 7:52 pm #11445When in the shower you wash your face twice because shortly after washing it for the first time, you can't remember if you washed it.

January 26, 2011 at 11:15 pm #11446You come home from grocery shopping, you put your carkeys in the freezer with the frozen peas and it takes you 2 days to find them.
You have to reread the last chapter of the book you ended the day before because you can't remember how it ended.
January 31, 2011 at 1:10 pm #11447Wondering why you're trying to answer the phone with the remote control when actually it's your alarmclock that's ringing.
February 3, 2011 at 8:29 pm #11448You know you need more sleep when you nod off at a red traffic light and you are thankful that the car was at a standstill!
April 2, 2011 at 4:48 am #11449You know you need more sleep when micronap through a meal in a restaurant…like I did a couple of nights back
You know you need more sleep when you close your eyes for what you perceive as a moment, but you suddenly open your eyes and everything in your hospital has changed and a nurse asks if you slept well!!
You know you need more sleep when you could swear your flatmate is talking to you and saying she has a secret to tell you, but she is in another county seeing friends!!

I know I need more sleep when I cant remember anyones name

Yep! Did this three times in five minutes the other day. My laptop switched itself off halfway through an email before I realised I'd been attempting to go grab my power adapter 😀
