Eric Myers✓ Client
Yeah, that sounds about right for week 3. That was right around the time that my perspective on the whole situation started to change. I began to see the bigger picture. That was a significant turning point for me. You’re on your way, my friend.
Eric Myers✓ ClientHi Tlusebrink. When I started the course last fall, I had major sleep anxiety. My Doctor put me on medication, but that only helped temporarily. I think things really started to click around the third week. For me it wasn’t so much about quieting my mind. It was more about learning to build sleep drive, consolidating my sleep (leading to more deep sleep) and sleep reconditioning. Teaching my brain to associate the bed with sleep and not restlessness. I also learned to lighten up and not take things to seriously.
Eric Myers✓ ClientSleep education was very helpful. Learning about sleep pressure and circadian rhythm. Bedtime restriction helped a lot, but things really started to change when I got into sleep reconditioning. I had heard someone talking about it on tv. They didn’t call it sleep reconditioning though, and they didn’t explain it very well. I remember them saying something about getting out of bed if can’t sleep and going back to bed when you feel sleepy, and that was about it. It wasn’t until I understood the reconditioning part that I started to see the bigger picture. That was a significant turning point for me. It was also very helpful to have an out of bed activity that I enjoyed and didn’t mind getting out of bed for. For me it was drawing.
