    Hi Anmareta
I am doing much better, going to bed at 12 up at six with only about 20mins to get to sleep and the same on waking once in the night.
Feel good in the day now.
What helped me most was just realising that
    1. Not sleeping wouldn’t kill me
    2. That just resting in bed calmly was ok, you don’t have to get up ( I found trying to judge how much time had passed, and so when I needed to get out of bed, extremely stressful)
    3. So many people have the same experiences.

Hope to be able to keep on improving

    Hope you do well

    Hi Anmareta
I have just downloaded the sleep school app but have not looked at it yet, also have just ordered the sleep book as well.

    Hi turtlestamp
This is a great post, I too read too many forum posts not only on insomnia but also anxiety.
I am definitely going to stop this, as I also see it as counterproductive.
Congratulations on your success so far.

    Hi Anmareta
I am struggling too. Have had the 2 week e-mail course and have done the sleep diary but am struggling to implement the sleep window and stimulus control.
Last night I decided I have to try to do it properly, my sleep window is 5 1/2 hours but have only slept 3 and now am up, I didn’t get up when I couldn’t get back to sleep as I felt relaxed but I was thinking about sleep so am not sure if I should have got up. Not sleeping seems to give me pains in my wrists and ankles where the skin feels tingly which seem odd.
Hope we can both get through this.

    Hi Scottctj
I am suffering with insomnia at the moment and am on day 11 of Martin’s free course. Keeping the sleep log without looking at the clock is proving more troublesome than I thought.
Last night I got out of bed once during the night after which I thought I had only a little sleep, my tracker said I had a further hour and a half.
I did feel more refreshed today so I thick the tracker may be correct.
My problem is if I go by my perceived sleep I would reduce my sleep window to less time than I am sleeping at the moment according to my fit bit.
I wonder if for some people not looking at the clock may make them feel they have worse sleep than they actually do.

    Hi David
How long have you been doing sleep restriction, are you getting results. Only been doing 1 week,I was doing well at first but now I have had a couple of good nights it is getting harder and my mind is racing again and I have daytime anxiety.
Feel very tired today not sure I will make it to my sleep window.

Thank you so much for your reply Chee Hiung Yong.
I must say that first I tried to follow sleep hygiene rules, they just made me more anxious and I do think made my insomnia worse as I was forever thinking I had to do everything in just a certain way.
I think the CBT-I approach seems much better.
