I'm a bit of a gig-aholic.. I started going to concerts in the very eary 90's and I love it!! I have spent a mean amount of money on tickets (£400 for 2) and I would do it again.

I recently had a dream come true after getting to see Jason Mraz at the O2 in London, I had been trying to see him for 4 years x awesome

with my sleep issues, anxiety and depression, bipolar was suggested but ruled out. my father was bipolar and died at an early age, he was 47years old!!

i really dont know which way to look at things.. does the insomnia lead to the anxiety/depression or does the anxiety/depression lead to insomnia?????

the chicken and the egg syndrome???

Hiya Susana, welcome to the forum..

you talk about your diagnosis of CFIDS, when was this and how was it diagnosed?.

i ask because i have periods like your self where i dont sleep for days and weeks, maybe napping for 10-15 mins at a time, followed by a few days where i am basically so exhausted i sleep continuously for days at a time!! i call it my catchup, lol i just think my body gets to a point where it can no longer function. obviously due to this i get really low and depressed because my family and friends dont uncderstand at all and i have been called lazy and a bad mother because of my crazy sleep patterns, which is hard, because i am so so exhausted sometimes and dont even get up to go to the toilet!!!

i find it so difficult to get family and friends to understand the extreme effect insomnia has on someones life…

ive only had a problem for a short time compared to most , 3 years, but during that time ive had one episode of normal sleep pattern and that was for a couple of months at the beginning of this year…

i wish the medical proffesion and the people around me would understand a little more….

    anyway

if you want to chat im on here most nights and afternoons..

    lisa 🙂

    Hi,

I've never tried acupuncture or hypnosis, but I had a course of massage and reflexology and it did take away some of the stresses and calm me down, but obviously that wasn't a help cuz It was durinb the day and i needed the therepy at bedtime! Lol

I also tried Http and My sleep and anxiety did not improve. So that just made a big hole in my purse!

Sorry not much help from me:(

But karting is doing a lot if research and they are really interesting!! Have a read. And try the training programme too. It's very enlightening and getting an email every night makes you feel less alone!!

Hi Brayan, it's nice to have you, I stumbled upon this site the way you did, just looking for anything that would give me a bit of relief and help me get back my elusive being called sleep!!!

Most of us put too much pressure on sleeping at the right times and I know how it feels to go days without sleep, I would get so upset and cry myself to sleep I was so exhausted but I would jump awake after maybe 10-15 mins!! And it just seems to go on forever!! When u talk about exercise, I know it's suppose to make us so tired we sleep but that really didn't help me either, as a matter of fact it made me so exhausted I cudnt even get up to go to the loo but did I sleep??? NO.

I'm now not so hard on myself, if I can't do it cuz I'm too tired then I don't do it!! It can wait!!!

It will all still be there when you wake up!! Lol

I hope you find what your looking for but if not at least you know there are others standing with you on those lonely nights of wakefulness!!

I think that was a similar if not the same article I read Martin. You know it's quite strange but you get very intelligent people and artists of all forms who say that their best ideas or most successful works are during a night wake up!! Makes me feel better even if it isn't true!! Lol

The problem with me is from my early teens I was a sleeper, all I seem to do was sleep if I wasn't at school, I was just so tired all the time, especially in the winter and I was told I almost certainly had SAD (seasonal affective disorder).

I am so interested in the link between mental health and sleep??? Because due to me being diagnosed with Graves' disease (over active thyroid) that was causing the insomnia and mental health problems, now do I blame the thyroid or not, it's not under control but I have had a period of a couple of months early this year when I slept and woke reasonably normally!!!

    Question questions??

    Thanks for you reply

I'm the opposite really, I have to sell my soul to get any POMs Ive been back and forth to the docs for 3 years and he has only given me meds a handful of times!! 🙁 and only a couple of weeks worth, by which time they've stopped working anyway.

I do agree that the long term effects of medication is far less life threatening than not sleeping for weeks at a time!!

They wouldn't say to a cancer patient ” oh sorry you can't have morphine because its addictive and becomes less affective the longer you take it” would they????

Sorry a but if a rant there..

    Lisa x
